Upright is thrilled to welcome Daniel Lobo as VP, Investor Sales.

Before joining Upright, Daniel has spent 15 years at Bloomberg, one of the world’s leading financial information providers, where he worked closely with institutional investors, asset managers, and financial executives, lastly as Head of Enterprise Sales for the Nordics, Benelux, Ireland, and Emerging Europe.

As ESG became a growing focus in global markets, he saw firsthand how investors struggled to navigate the fragmented landscape of sustainability data.

“Throughout my years at Bloomberg, I worked with some of the biggest institutional investors in the world, and I saw the same pattern repeat itself: firms wanted to integrate sustainability into their strategies, but the data they had access to was incomplete, inconsistent, and often lacked transparency. There was a clear need for a better way to measure real impact.“

The first encounter with Upright

Daniel’s first encounter with Upright came during a Bloomberg meeting with a major Finnish asset manager three years ago. While pitching Bloomberg’s sustainability solutions, the asset manager surprised him by saying they had just decided to go for a Finnish startup instead: Upright’s science-based model to quantify impact. That moment stuck with Daniel.

“I’ve seen all the reasons to invest in this model over others. That’s another piece of clear evidence that Upright should exist.”

From scaling enterprise sales to transforming impact data

After Bloomberg, Daniel took his expertise to Supermetrics, one of Finland’s most successful startups, where he led global enterprise sales and built strategic partnerships. His experience scaling a data-driven SaaS business globally makes him the perfect fit for Upright as we continue to grow and bring science-based impact data to a broader audience.

At Upright, Daniel will focus on helping financial institutions integrate science-based impact data into investment management and disclosures, ensuring that sustainability insights become as fundamental as financial metrics.

A perfect match for Upright’s mission

Upright’s COO, Head of Investor Product Valtteri Vulkko sees Daniel’s experience as a perfect match for the company’s next growth phase:

“Daniel has spent his career at the intersection of financial data and investment decision-making. He understands both the immense potential and the current shortcomings of sustainability data in the financial world. We’re excited to have him on board as we continue to build the de facto data standard for managing the sustainability-related risks and opportunities of investments.”

We are excited to see Daniel’s expertise in action as we work toward making impact data as transparent, science-based, and widely used as financial data.

Welcome to the team, Daniel!
