Upright launches the world’s first open-access platform for impact data, as part of its mission to make information about companies’ holistic impact more transparent, accessible and comparable.

In the platform, companies’ own targets and disclosures will be set in context with science-based modelling of their impact on the environment, health, society and knowledge. The aim is to bridge the gap between internal and external lenses on impact: what companies themselves report and communicate, and what external frameworks, such as the EU sustainable finance regulations and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, outline as important.

The first release on April 26th will make Upright’s proprietary net impact data for more than 700 companies available to investors, customers, employees, and other stakeholders free of charge. The launch involves a broad range of Nordic (listed) companies such as Cargotec, Securitas, Fiskars Group, Vaisala, Lamor, and Uponor, as well as global brands such as Tesla, Apple, Siemens and Pfizer.

The launch of the platform is part of Upright’s broader vision to increase the transparency, comparability, and scientific rigour of impact data. The aim is to offer open-access impact data on 95 % of all companies globally with more than ten employees by 2025.

This is the first time that impact data is openly available publicly at this scale. The platform features Upright’s quantifications of companies’ net impact, EU taxonomy alignment, EU SFDR PAI indicators, and UN Sustainable Development Goals, complemented with companies’ own targets and disclosures.

“Impact data has been lacking transparency and comparability, and as a consequence, decisions have been made based on marketing slogans and anecdotal data. This is not serving investors, employees or even companies themselves, so it’s time to introduce open data solutions to the impact discourse”, says Upright’s founder Annu Nieminen.
